28 gamers qualify for SLCG Grand Finals from SLCG '12 Kandy

The Kandy City Center played host to the kickstart of Sri Lanka Cyber Games this year with the Kandy qualifier being held on the 27th and 28th October. Over 200 participants battled it out for a chance to represent their region at the grand finals in Colombo. 28 cyber-athletes qualified to take part in the final event on the 16th, 17th and 18th November 2012 at the BMICH, where they will go head to head with the Colombo champions.

4 official titles were played on the two days of the event, with COD4 taking center stage as expected. The Dota, NFS: MW and FIFA 11 qualifiers also had strong participation, with a number of new gamers taking the limelight with big wins this year.

salinda7 managed to breeze through the FIFA 11 draw without conceding a single goal - sure to give the boys in Colombo a tough fight for the gold medal. Previous years FIFA 11 champ Avantha was knocked out in the first round in a tight 8-7 match against runner-up TX.

DC|Thunder demolished his opponents in the NFS:MW category, with "Avatar" coming in a respectable 2nd. Both Thunder and Avatar are multi-skilled - with Avatar being a part of Dota champion team Xulin, and Thunder playing for COD4 semi-finalists DC.Doug.
